Historique
Le prieuré de Douy est situé sur un site remarquable entre deux bras du Loir. Mentionné dès 860, il est un des plus anciens du diocèse de Chartres. La chapelle remonte aux 11e-12e siècles et fait partie des six chapelles romanes qui jalonnent le bord du Loir sur environ 80 kilomètres depuis Saint-Denis-les-Ponts jusqu'à Troo. Celles-ci se caractérisent par leurs dimensions modestes, leur proximité immédiate de la rivière et leurs fresques romanes. Du prieuré subsistent actuellement l'ancienne maison prieurale, très restaurée au 19e siècle, le pigeonnier et la chapelle, habilement restaurée en 1967. Cette restauration a fait apparaître dans l'abside des fresques du 12e siècle remarquablement conservées.

History
The priory of Douy is located on a remarkable site between two branches of the Loir. Mentioned as early as 860, it is one of the oldest in the diocese of Chartres. The chapel dates to the 11th-12th centuries and is one of six Romanesque chapels that punctuate the edge of the Loir over approximately 80 kilometres from Saint-Denis-les-Ponts to Troo. These are characterized by their modest dimensions, their immediate proximity to the river and their Romanesque frescoes. Of the priory there remain currently the former prior's house, very much restored in the 19th century, the dovecote and the chapel, skilfully restored in 1967. This restoration revealed in the apse frescoes of the 12th century remarkably well preserved.
