History
This castle of the 13th and 14th centuries, modified in the 17th and 18th centuries, occupies the summit of a hill in the Entre Deux Mers. It is one of the most important fortresses of Gironde, combining moat, rampart, lices, terraces, keep, chapel, two enclosures reinforced with towers and various buildings. It belonged among others to the Grailly and then to the d'Epernon. It constitutes major evidence of medieval fortification in Aquitaine.
