Seul vestige des fortifications de la bastide fondée en 1335 par Gaston II de Foix, qui servit par la suite de prison, et seule porte de ce type conservée en Béarn. History
Sole vestige of the fortifications of the bastide founded in 1335 by Gaston II of Foix, which subsequently served as a prison, and the only gate of this type preserved in Béarn. The gate presented an open gorge above the ground-floor passage and a pair of arrowslits to cover the approach to the gate which lacked a drawbridge but was protected by a portcullis.
