Historique
Lusine de chaux et de ciment hydraulique est construite vers 1850 pour Modenel et Cie, qui lexploite jusquen 1956. La réputation des chaux dEchoisy était excellente et, pendant la Première Guerre mondiale, les commandes de la Marine affluèrent. Le charbon et la chaux étaient transportés par le train « léconomique ». £La plate-forme de cassage se trouve près du hangar des gueulards où sopérait le chargement des fours (quatre fours de modèle à courte flamme et cuisson continue pour la chaux hydraulique, deux fours à chaux lourde). Ce hangar, à charpente en bois, est couvert dun toit en tuile mécanique à lanterneau. Latelier des broyeurs, les bureaux, ainsi quune modeste gare complètent les bâtiments. Lintérêt de cet établissement réside surtout dans la cohérence de lensemble qui témoigne de toute la chaîne de production, depuis lextraction dans la carrière jusqu'à lexpédition de la chaux par wagonnet, sans oublier les machines et les outils.£

History
The lime and hydraulic cement factory is built around 1850 for Modenel et Cie, who operate it until 1956. The reputation of Echoisy lime was excellent and, during the First World War, orders from the Navy came in abundance. Coal and lime were transported by the 'economical' railway. The crushing platform is located near the cupola shed where the charging of the furnaces took place (four furnaces of short-flame model and continuous firing for hydraulic lime, two heavy-lime furnaces). This shed, with wooden roof structure, is covered with a tiled roof with a lantern. The grinding workshop, the offices, as well as a modest station complete the buildings. The interest of this establishment lies especially in the coherence of the whole which testifies to the entire production chain, from extraction in the quarry to the despatch of lime by small wagon, not forgetting the machines and tools.
