Mis au jour en 1989 lors dune prospection, ces deux groupes de carrière ont permis lexploitation dune roche noire, laphanite (ou pélite-quartz) , utilisée pour la fabrication de haches en pierre polie. Datées du néolithique (exploitation étagée entre 4600 et 3700 avant Jésus-Christ) , ces carrières son remarquablement bien conservées et représentent un des rares sites européens dexploitation de matière première en relief (front de taille visible).

History
Discovered in 1989 during a survey, these two groups of quarries allowed the exploitation of a black stone, aphanite (or pelite-quartz), used for the manufacture of polished stone axes. Dated to the neolithic (exploitation spanning between 4600 and 3700 before Christ), these quarries are remarkably well preserved and represent one of the rare European sites of extraction of raw material in relief (visible quarry face).
