Historique

History
Villa constructed from 1927 by architect Sappin des Reynaud for a wealthy industrialist, François-Joseph Troubat (1874-1968), serving to house his collections of furniture and works of art. Pastiche of an 18th-century folly, the façades of the building are inspired by the Petit-Trianon. The bathroom of Madame is ornamented with Art Deco mosaic decoration. The villa is enlarged in 1953 by architect P. Bougerolle, the two new rotunda wings serving as exhibition halls. A new exhibition building, by the same architect, is added in 1960. The whole is bequeathed to the city to become a museum in 1976. The park contains high-reliefs by sculptors Fanny Rozet, Caparello and Schnedd, recovered during the demolition of a Parisian hotel overlooking the avenue des Champs-Elysées.
