Historique
L'industriel Laurence Oustau associé à L. Danos et A. Latapie, fonde en 1873 une tuilerie- briqueterie industrielle avec l'installation d'un premier four Hoffmann en 1873, puis d'un second en 1881, fours toujours en place. A cette activité principale de l'"usine Rouge", richement décorée de briques vernissées polychromes, se rajoutent une section de production de tuyaux en grès cérame possédant toujours sa batterie de fours, et la fabrication de pavés en grès cérame dans l'"usine blanche". Une faïencerie et une poterie s'installent par ailleurs sur le site. Après la Seconde Guerre mondiale, l'usine ne fabrique plus que des briques et des tuiles, jusqu'à sa fermeture en 1970. Aujourd'hui désaffecté, en voie de reconversion, cet ensemble industriel exceptionnel, abondamment décoré, conserve un patrimoine technique remarquable de huit fours de cuisson auquel il faut adjoindre non loin de là les écuries et la maison patronale transformée en centre culturel.

History
The industrialist Laurence Oustau associated with L. Danos and A. Latapie, founded in 1873 an industrial tile and brick works with the installation of a first Hoffmann kiln in 1873, then a second in 1881, kilns still in place. To this main activity of the "usine Rouge", richly decorated with polychrome glazed bricks, is added a section for production of stoneware pipes still possessing its battery of kilns, and the manufacture of stoneware paviors in the "usine blanche". A faience works and a pottery establish themselves moreover on the site. After the Second World War, the works manufactures only bricks and tiles, until its closure in 1970. Today abandoned, in process of conversion, this exceptional industrial ensemble, abundantly decorated, preserves a remarkable technical heritage of eight firing kilns to which must be added not far away the stables and the owner's house transformed into a cultural centre.
