History
In 1738, Joseph de Bacalan, knight, counsellor at the Parliament of Bordeaux, purchased the noble house of Cazalet, parish of Ludon. It is doubtless from this period that the reconstruction of this country house dates. With its environment of agricultural outbuildings, its single storey with modest elevations, its distribution characterised by small apartments situated at the ends of the main dwelling, Bacalan passes for one of the most accomplished examples of Bordeaux chartreuse.
