La maison est située sur l'ancien chemin de Régordane qui drainait le commerce du centre de la France vers le sud. Cet axe tranversant Villefort connut une grande fréquentation au Moyen Age et servait également aux pélerins vers Saint-Gilles. La rue est encore bordée de maisons d'artisans ou de marchands qui se caractérisent par la présence de portes jumelées en arc segmentaire pour la plupart et d'une porte piétonne. Cette maison présente, à l'étage, deux grandes baies jumelées avec un arc brisé mouluré reposant sur des colonnettes aux bases et aux chapiteaux décorés qui encadrait une ouverture dont le meneau et les remplages trilobés ont en grande partie disparu, et qui datent vraisemblablement du 14e siècle. La destination de cette demeure reste inconnue. Peut-être s'agissait-il de la salle consulaire.

History
The house is situated on the old Régordane road which drained commerce from central France towards the south. This axis crossing Villefort experienced great traffic in the Middle Ages and also served pilgrims heading to Saint-Gilles. The street is still lined with houses of craftsmen or merchants which are characterized by the presence of paired segmental arch doors for the most part and a pedestrian door. This house has, on the upper floor, two large paired openings with a moulded pointed arch resting on small columns with decorated bases and capitals which framed an opening whose mullion and trilobed tracery have largely disappeared, and which probably date from the 14th century. The purpose of this dwelling remains unknown. Perhaps it was the consul's hall.
