La communauté des Ursulines s'installe à Arbois en 1617. Reconstruction d'une église plus vaste entre 1764 et 1768, sur les plans de l'architecte Jean-Charles Colombot. Le couvent des 17e et 18e siècles, vendu comme bien national à la Révolution, est acquis en 1802 par la municipalité qui effectue des travaux d'aménagement pour y installer la maison commune et le tribunal (aménagement des deux escaliers en 1865).

History
The community of Ursulines settled in Arbois in 1617. Reconstruction of a larger church between 1764 and 1768, to the designs of architect Jean-Charles Colombot. The convent of the 17th and 18th centuries, sold as national property at the Revolution, was acquired in 1802 by the municipality which carried out fitting-out works to install the common hall and the court (arrangement of the two staircases in 1865).
