Ce château a été saccagé pendant les guerres de la Ligue, puis reconstruit en 1632 par Charles Ier du Châtellier. Il a ensuite été remanié vers 1750 (boiseries) et réaménagé au 19e siècle (décor intérieur). Seuls deux plafonds et l'escalier ont conservé leur décor peint du 17e siècle. Le château est construit sur une terrasse entourée de larges douves maçonnées. La terrasse est flanquée de quatre tours d'angle à mâchicoulis servant de chapelle, colombier, cabinet d'archives et logement de domestiques.

History
This castle was sacked during the Wars of the League, then rebuilt in 1632 by Charles I of Châtellier. It was subsequently altered around 1750 (woodwork) and remodelled in the 19th century (interior decoration). Only two ceilings and the staircase have retained their painted decoration from the 17th century. The castle is built on a terrace surrounded by wide masonry moats. The terrace is flanked by four corner towers with machicolations serving as chapel, dovecote, archives room and servants' quarters.
