L'abbaye de Masseilles fut fondée en1124 à proximité d'une source qui lui a donné son nom et bénéficia aux 12e et 13e siècles de la protection des rois d'Angleterre, puis au 14e siècle de celle de Clément V. L'abbaye fut remaniée aux 17e et 18e siècles mais ne comptait plus en 1768 que deux religieux et fut vendue comme bien national en 1793.

History
The abbey of Masseilles was founded in 1124 near a spring which gave it its name and benefited in the 12th and 13th centuries from the protection of the Kings of England, then in the 14th century from that of Clement V. The abbey was remodelled in the 17th and 18th centuries but numbered only two monks in 1768 and was sold as national property in 1793.
