L'aqueduc du Gier, ou du Pilat, est le plus important des quatre aqueducs desservant Lyon. D'une longueur avoisinant 75 kilomètres, il amenait les eaux du Gier jusqu'aux quartiers hauts de la ville. Quatre piles sont encore debout. De forme carrée, elles sont bâties sur une fondation de blocage grossier. La partie aérienne présente un coeur en blocage plaqué d'un parement de moellons réticulés interrompu à mi-hauteur par une double assise de réglage en brique.

History
The Gier aqueduct, or Pilat aqueduct, is the most important of the four aqueducts serving Lyon. With a length approaching 75 kilometres, it brought the waters of the Gier to the upper quarters of the city. Four piers are still standing. Square in form, they are built on a foundation of coarse rubble.
