The Ministère de la Culture's notice
Historique

History
The site is occupied by dwellings and pottery workshops around 30 BC at the earliest. The district is occupied by peristyle houses, warehouses, shops sometimes accompanied by modest dwellings and artisan workshops. The district is bounded to the south, from the middle of the 1st century, by the complex of the "Palace of the Mirror" which separated the ancient districts of Saint-Romain-en-Gal and Sainte-Colombe-lés-Vienne. After abandonment in the 4th and 5th centuries, some convents appear to have been established from the 5th century. The discovery of polychrome mosaics in the 18th century, and the preservation of part of the baths of the Palace of the Mirror are at the origin of the development of archaeological research on this bank.
