Historique
Claude de Villars ayant rencontré Saint-François de Sales, résolut de donner la demeure paternelle aux Soeurs de la Visitation (1631 : date du contrat de fondation). Bâtiment de la seconde moitié du 17e siècle, constitué principalement par un cloître entouré de bâtiments, chapelle, grand escalier, réfectoire. Les bâtiments se révélant mal adaptés, les soeurs font construire deux corps de logis entre 1647 et 1650. En 1657, elles font l'acquisition du jardin de la Bâtie. En 1664, la chapelle est construite. De 1670 à 1676, le monastère s'accroit d'une salle d'assemblée, d'un chapitre, d'un grenier, d'une boulangerie et d'un oratoire. Chassées du couvent en 1792, les soeurs y reviennent en 1809. En 1830, l'ensemble des bâtiments est racheté par les soeurs qui font rebâtir en 1835 le cloître détruit par la Révolution. Présence d'une cheminée monumentale gothique dans l'ancienne cuisine du couvent. Plafond à la française dans le réfectoire. Les fenêtres des cellules conservent leur mouluration médiévale.

Claude de Villars having met Saint François de Sales, resolved to give his paternal home to the Sisters of the Visitation (1631: date of the foundation contract). Building from the second half of the 17th century, consisting mainly of a cloister surrounded by buildings, chapel, grand staircase, refectory. The buildings proving poorly suited, the sisters had two main dwellings built between 1647 and 1650. In 1657, they acquired the garden of the Bâtie. In 1664, the chapel was built. From 1670 to 1676, the monastery was enlarged with an assembly room, a chapter room, a granary, a bakery and an oratory. Driven out of the convent in 1792, the sisters returned there in 1809. In 1830, all the buildings were repurchased by the sisters who had the cloister rebuilt in 1835, which had been destroyed by the Revolution. Presence of a monumental Gothic fireplace in the former kitchen of the convent. French ceiling in the refectory. The windows of the cells retain their medieval moulding.
