La construction de cette église placée sous le vocable de Saint-Jean l’évangéliste remonte aux XIIème et XIIIème siècles. L’église à l’origine faisait partie d’un ensemble prieural aujourd’hui disparu. Initialement fondé par le comte de Nevers le prieuré abritait des chanoines qui vivaient selon la règle de Saint-Augustin. Le prieuré est rattaché au chapitre de Notre-Dame de Semur-en-Auxois et les lieux sont abandonnés en 1725 puis détruits au XVIIIème. L’église devient par la suite église paroissiale.

History
The construction of this church dedicated to Saint John the Evangelist dates back to the 12th and 13th centuries. The church originally formed part of a priory complex now disappeared. Initially founded by the Count of Nevers, the priory housed canons who lived according to the Rule of Saint Augustine. The priory is linked to the chapter of Notre-Dame de Semur-en-Auxois and the premises are abandoned in 1725 then destroyed in the 18th century. The church subsequently becomes a parish church.
