L’2glise est construite sur les bases d’une première basilique dont on retrouve une première mention en 844 lors de l’achat du territoire de Bourg-Argental au conte de Vienne par Arestagne. L’édifice est agrandi au début du XIIème siècle lors de l’ajout de deux nefs latérales. Une chapelle supplémentaire est construite en 1459 par Margueritte de Montchenu. L’église est agrandie une nouvelle fois dans la seconde moitié du XIXème siècle pour répondre aux besoins des fidèles.

History
The church is built on the foundations of an earlier basilica of which the first mention is found in 844 during the purchase of the territory of Bourg-Argental from the count of Vienne by Arestagne.
