Historique

History
The industrial use of wood pulp thanks to the invention of the mechanical pulper by the German Voelter was to give rise to various improvements of which that of the engineer from the École Centrale Aristide Bergès is interesting since he adapts it to hydraulic power. This would henceforth be exploited in pressurised conduits, thanks to a height difference of 200 m, soon increased to 500 m. The increase in power obtained would bring about the success of "white coal", a term that appeared at the Exposition of 1889. Each pulper had to be associated with its own turbine. The installations of the first factory were arranged as a small museum.
