L'église est un édifice roman qui a connu des modifications architecturales à la fin de l'époque gothique et à l'époque moderne. Au 15e siècle, Laval était partagé entre deux familles dauphinoises, celle des Commiers et celle des Alleman. Trois chapelles seigneuriales destinées aux sépultures des familles commanditaires furent fondées dans l'église. La chapelle des Alleman est construite sur le flanc nord de l'église. Elle est de plan rectangulaire et voûtée sur croisées d'ogives. Elle est ornée d'une fresque sur le thème de la Vierge de miséricorde ou Vierge au manteau. Elle orne la partie supérieure du mur nord. History
The church is a Romanesque building that underwent architectural modifications in the late Gothic and modern periods. In the 15th century, Laval was divided between two Dauphinois families, that of the Commiers and that of the Alleman. Three seigneurial chapels intended for the burials of the patron families were founded in the church. The Alleman chapel is built on the north side of the church. It is of rectangular plan and vaulted on rib vaults. It is ornamented with a fresco on the theme of the Virgin of mercy or Virgin of the mantle. It adorns the upper part of the north wall. A Virgin extends her mantle lined with ermine over a crowd of kneeling knights. Four angels hold the Virgin's mantle and two others support the Virgin's crown. On the right, Saint Catherine holds a book while observing the scene. The figures stand out against a red background strewn with gold fleurs-de-lis.
