"Maison-forte du 12e siècle dans laquelle naît en 1573 Charles de Valois, fils de Charles IX et de Marie Touchet. Vers 1840, le château est à l'abandon. Gustave Rivet, homme politique et écrivain, l'achète en 1894 et le sauve de la ruine. Le corps de bâtiment principal, de plan rectangulaire, est flanqué de deux tours et de deux ailes, donnant un plan général en U. A l'intérieur, le premier niveau possède des plafonds à la française. La "chambre historique" contient une cheminée droite du 17e siècle. Le grand salon possède des boiseries de la fin du 18e siècle. La "chambre Louis XVI" comprend des boiseries et une cheminée en noyer du milieu du 18e siècle."

Strong-house of the 12th century in which is born in 1573 Charles de Valois, son of Charles IX and Marie Touchet. Around 1840, the castle is abandoned.
