L'existence d'un très ancien chapitre de chanoinesses dirigé par une prieure dont on possède les noms de 1308 à 1789 administré par une prieure de 1260 à 1700 et sous la dépendance de l'abbaye de Saint-Claude jusqu'en 1741. A cette date, le chapitre de Neuville tomba sous la juridiction de l'archevêque de Lyon. Bulle de Pape Benoît XIV. L'abbaye fut sécularisée en 1755 par Louis XV. Les chanoinesses formaient un chapitre noble au recrutement exigeant. Louis XV leur accorda une croix émaillée blanc fleuronnée analogue à celle qui fut accordée à cette époque au chapitre de Saint-Jean-de-Lyon.

The existence of a very ancient chapter of canonesses directed by a prioress of whom we possess the names from 1308 to 1789 administered by a prioress from 1260 to 1700 and under the dependence of the abbey of Saint-Claude until 1741.
