History
Seat of a castellany and a priory dependent on the abbey of Saint-Médard of Soissons, the castle of Vic-sur-Aisne consists of a 13th-century keep, altered in the 17th century, of dry moats and a razed medieval curtain wall, of a main dwelling reconstructed at the end of the 16th century and in the 17th century by the commendatory abbots of Saint-Médard, of outbuildings of the same period, and of a park comprising parterres in the French style, much degraded terracotta statuary from the 17th century, a 19th-century folly and an English-style park. The whole was heavily damaged during the First World War.
