Historique
Le château (ou donjon) de Pernant se dresse sur un promontoire dominant la vallée. Dans son sous-sol, d'anciennes carrières ont été transformées en dépendances souterraines. La construction du château date probablement du début du 14e siècle. Au cours de la Première Guerre mondiale, le château est partiellement détruit par l'artillerie allemande. Le château, construit en pierres de taille se compose d'un bâtiment sur plan carré (qui possédait un toit aigu en ardoises) fortifié de quatre tourelles d'angle. A l'ouest, un petit corps de logis a été rajouté au 16e siècle (en grande partie démoli en 1918). On ne trouve plus trace des murailles d'enceinte.

History
The castle (or keep) of Pernant rises on a promontory overlooking the valley. In its basement, old quarries have been transformed into underground outbuildings. The construction of the castle probably dates from the early 14th century. During the First World War, the castle is partially destroyed by German artillery. The castle, built in ashlar stone, consists of a building on a square plan (which had a steep slate roof) fortified with four corner turrets. On the west, a small dwelling was added in the 16th century (largely demolished in 1918). No trace remains of the curtain walls.
