Cet édifice est la seule église orthodoxe de l'ouest de la France, édifiée en 1926 par des ouvriers russes venus travailler dans les usines de la Société Métallurgique de Normandie (groupe Schneider) , dont les usines alors situées sur le plateau de Colombelles ont été détruites à partir de 1994. History
This building is the only Orthodox church in western France, built in 1926 by Russian workers who came to work in the factories of the Société Métallurgique de Normandie (Schneider group), whose factories then situated on the Colombelles plateau were destroyed from 1994 onwards. The construction of the church, partially financed by the company, follows plans provided by a colonel of the Russian army, imitating the style of the churches of Saint-Petersburg. The icons were executed by the painters Fostov and Khvostov. A library of works in the Russian language is adjoined to the church. Damaged by the bombardments of June 1944, the church was restored in 1946, still with the assistance of the Société Métallurgique de Normandie.
