Historique
L'architecte François Mansart réalise de 1626 à 1636 la construction du château de Balleroy pour le compte de Monsieur de Choisy. Le marquis de Balleroy acquiert le château en 1760, château conservé dans la même famille jusqu'au milieu du 20e siècle. La cour d'entrée, limitée de chaque côté par un bâtiment de communs à un étage, est décorée de deux parterres à broderie ; une grille en fer forgé la ferme en arrière d'un fossé ; une longue avenue conduit au château. Le bâtiment principal comporte au centre un pavillon à trois étages carrés surmonté d'un comble à lucarnes, d'une plate-forme et d'un campanile à beffroi ; ce pavillon est flanqué de deux ailes identiques à deux étages carrés et un comble à lucarnes. Cet ensemble est entouré de douves. Le plafond du grand salon a été peint par Pierre Mignard en 1670.

History
Architect François Mansart carried out from 1626 to 1636 the construction of the castle of Balleroy for Monsieur de Choisy. The marquis of Balleroy acquired the castle in 1760, a castle preserved in the same family until the middle of the 20th century. The entrance courtyard, limited on each side by an outbuilding with one storey, is decorated with two parterre gardens with embroidery; an iron grille closes it behind a moat; a long avenue leads to the castle. The main building comprises at the centre a pavilion with three square storeys surmounted by a roof with dormers, a platform and a belfry campanile; this pavilion is flanked by two identical wings with two square storeys and a roof with dormers. This whole is surrounded by moats. The ceiling of the great salon was painted by Pierre Mignard in 1670.
