Castle known as a fortified house from the 12th century. Odon Borleng, governor of Gacé, stored there the booty resulting from the pillaging of populations. Richard de l'Aigle seized it, and the fortified house became a castle fort with moats and defensive towers at the angles. At the end of the 15th century, Guillaume Erard, made knight by François Ier, rebuilt the dwelling according to an L-shaped plan, in Renaissance style, with two towers. From the construction of the 16th century subsists the north-east wing. At the end of the 16th century, the Renaissance castle was doubled towards the west. The two other towers with machicolations were probably constructed at this time. Occupied during the Second World War, an explosion damaged the great hall of the ground floor. Only a painted decoration of the 17th century on a beam subsists.
