Historique
Le prieuré bénédictin dépendait de l'abbaye d'Alménèches. Il fut édifié en 1623 autour de l'ancienne chapelle Notre-Dame de la Place. Il était destiné à recevoir des novices qui étaient envoyées après leur profession à Alménèches pour remplacer les anciennes religieuses qui décédaient et qui s'étaient opposées à l'instauration des nouveaux usages de la Réforme. Le logis abbatial fut édifié et décoré par l'abbesse Marie-Louise de Médavy. A l'origine de plan rectangulaire, prolongé à l'arrière par une aile perpendiculaire, l'édifice possédait une tour d'escalier carrée plaquée au centre de la façade principale. Actuellement, la moitié du bâtiment a disparu et la tour d'escalier centrale fait l'angle de la maison. Le décor intérieur a subsisté dans la grande pièce de l'étage, au plafond peint. Ce dernier comporte deux parties, chacune d'elle porte deux blasons à ses extrémités, représentant les alliances de la famille des Médavy. Sous le papier peint se devinent également les restes d'un décor peint représentant un paysage.

History
The Benedictine priory was dependent on Alménèches abbey. It was built in 1623 around the old Notre-Dame de la Place chapel. It was intended to receive novices who were sent after their profession to Alménèches to replace the old nuns who had died and who had opposed the establishment of the new practices of the Reform. The abbatial residence was built and decorated by abbess Marie-Louise de Médavy. Originally of rectangular plan, extended at the rear by a perpendicular wing, the building had a square stair tower attached to the centre of the main façade. Currently, half of the building has disappeared and the central stair tower forms the corner of the house. The interior decoration has survived in the large room on the upper storey, with its painted ceiling. The latter comprises two parts, each bearing two coats of arms at its ends, representing the alliances of the Médavy family. Beneath the wallpaper can also be discerned the remains of painted decoration representing a landscape.
