Edifié au 12e siècle pour protéger le port de Regnéville et son trafic, ce château fut reconstruit à plusieurs reprises, notamment au 14e siècle par Charles le Mauvais. C'est cette reconstruction qui subsiste aujourd'hui. L'intérêt du port et de sa forteresse fut tel que le roi se réserva pendant plus de trois siècles leur propriété. Regnéville fut fief royal jusqu'à la fin du 15e siècle. L'édifice fut démantelé par les tempêtes, puis par Richelieu en 1637.

History
Built in the 12th century to protect the port of Regnéville and its traffic, this castle was rebuilt on several occasions, notably in the 14th century by Charles the Bad. It is this reconstruction that survives today. The interest in the port and its fortress was such that the king reserved for himself its ownership for more than three centuries. Regnéville was a royal fief until the end of the 15th century. The building was dismantled by storms, then by Richelieu in 1637.
