Le château a été construit pendant la guerre de Cent Ans : il consistait alors en une maison forte entourée de hautes murailles et de fossés secs qui se remplissaient en fonction de l'inondation des marais. Dans la seconde moitié du 17e siècle, le château a été entouré d'une plate-forme bastionnée à la Vauban. Les quatre angles de la plate-forme ont été bastionnés et surmontés d'échauguettes. History
The castle was built during the Hundred Years War: it then consisted of a fortified house surrounded by high walls and dry moats which filled according to the flooding of the marshes. In the second half of the 17th century, the castle was surrounded by a bastion platform in the manner of Vauban. The four corners of the platform were bastioned and surmounted by bartizans. Three vast semi-circular basins were installed at the centre of the sides; they are surrounded by steps of stone supporting statues. It is rather a decorative complex inspired by classical fortifications, in the manner of Vauban.
