Très rare exemple d'architecture civile urbaine du 16e siècle. Construite en 1557 (date sur le fronton d'une fenêtre) pour un marchand de Foussais, la maison est constituée d'un grand corps d'habitation autrefois doublé d'une galerie surmontée d'une loggia. Tour d'escalier dans l'angle. La façade sur la place de l'église conserve presque intacts ses percements d'origine avec notamment une baie à serlienne et une porte à fronton. L'intérieur, très modifié, laisse apparaître des portes Renaissance, des poutres d'origine, des cheminées et une niche ayant sans doute abrité une fontaine.

History
Very rare example of urban civic architecture of the 16th century. Built in 1557 (date on the pediment of a window) for a merchant of Foussais, the house consists of a large body of residence formerly doubled by a gallery surmounted by a loggia. Stair tower in the corner. The facade on the church square preserves almost intact its original openings including notably a Serlian opening and a door with pediment. The interior, much modified, reveals Renaissance doors, original beams, fireplaces and a niche which probably once housed a fountain.
