History
Stronghold built in the 14th century on the foundations of an older castle, formerly encompassing the parish church within its enclosure. The keep from the 1380s is surrounded by dry moats and accompanied by a 16th-century dovecote. The keep consists of seven storeys of superposed rooms, some of which are vaulted and preserve fine fireplaces. The church shows two periods of construction, 12th and 15th century, corresponding to each of the adjoining naves. A dome on squinches forms the base of the bell tower. In the seigneurial chapel, the heraldic corbels evoke the various families connected with the castle.
