Sur un emplacement fortifié dès le 13e siècle pour des familles féodales angevines, la nouvelle fortune des officiers royaux de Château-Gontier (après les troubles des guerres de religion) permet à la famille d'Héliaud d'édifier un château pendant la première moitié du 17e siècle. Ce château, à escalier monumental et pavillon, est agrandi au 18e siècle.

History
On a site fortified from the 13th century for Angevin feudal families, the new wealth of the royal officers of Château-Gontier (after the troubles of the Wars of Religion) enabled the d'Héliaud family to build a castle during the first half of the 17th century. This castle, with monumental staircase and pavilion, was enlarged in the 18th century.
