Occupation of this site since the Gallo-Roman period. The origin of the abbey dates back to the 12th century. Severely damaged by the Normans, the Hundred Years' Wars and the Huguenots of Saumur, the abbey was rebuilt between 1680 and 1685 by the Maurists. Abbatial dwelling of 1768.
