History

Built between 1834 and 1850 by its owner, Pierre Godefroy, a few metres south of an old mill from the late 18th century, this tower mill operated at least until 1865 with sail sails that drove only a single pair of millstones. In the following decade, probably, its tower was raised by two storeys, and it was equipped with Berton sails and three pairs of millstones. Its milling activity stopped shortly after the 1939-1945 war, when the sails were dismantled. Original for its height, the mill has four storeys, it is covered with a conical roof of slate. The windows, with round arches in brick, are arranged in two bays diametrically opposite, one to the north-west, the other to the south-east. At the level of the third storey is found a small niche surmounted by a brick cross which must have contained a statue of a patron saint. Although the sails and the head of the shaft were removed around 1950, all internal mechanisms are in place.
