Historique
Les maçonneries ne semblent pas antérieures au 17e siècle. Son prédécesseur, un moulin probablement de type cavier comme lui, relevait censivement de la seigneurie de la Perrière, et son meunier devait, en 1584, une rente de 30 livres tournois aux religieux Augustins d'Angers. La masse du moulin actuel, base cylindrique contenant la cave où se trouvent les meules, s'élève à environ 4 m de hauteur et épaule la tour du massereau, le tout réalisé en moellons de schiste. Le massereau de la Garde se singularise, contrairement à beaucoup d'autres caviers, par le fait que sa partie haute, qui porte le pied du moulin, n'est pas en maçonnerie mais en charpente couverte d'ardoises. La hucherolle, cage en bois contenant le renvoi d'angle, l'arbre-moteur et les ailes (Berton) ont été refaits à neuf en 1981.

History
The masonry does not appear to predate the 17th century. Its predecessor, a mill probably of cavier type like itself, was feudally dependent on the seigneurial domain of la Perrière, and its miller owed, in 1584, a rent of 30 livres tournois to the Augustinian religious of Angers. The mass of the present mill, cylindrical base containing the cellar where the millstones are located, rises to approximately 4 m in height and shoulders the massereau tower, all built in rubble stone of schist. The massereau of la Garde is distinguished, contrary to many other caviers, by the fact that its upper part, which bears the foot of the mill, is not in masonry but in timber framing covered with slates. The hucherolle, wooden cage containing the bevel gearing, the drive shaft and the sails (Berton) were completely remade in 1981.
