Aménagée à l'emplacement de l'ancienne propriété de Launay, la place Mellinet est une opération d'urbanisme qui s'inscrit dans la logique de l'extension de Nantes vers l'ouest et vers le port. Construite selon les plans des architectes Blond et Amouroux dressés en 1827, la place octogonale est bordée de huit hôtels particuliers aux façades identiques avec parc à l'arrière. Leur construction s'est échelonnée de 1828 à 1874. Le programme ainsi réalisé représente un exemple unique à Nantes de l'architecture de la Restauration.££L'hôtel, construit au milieu du 19ème siècle, présente deux pièces ayant conservé des décors d'origine, notamment un salon au plafond peint en trompe-l'oeil. History
Laid out on the site of the former Launay property, place Mellinet is an urban development operation that fits within the logic of Nantes' extension towards the west and towards the port. Built according to the plans of architects Blond and Amouroux drawn up in 1827, the octagonal square is bordered by eight townhouses with identical façades and parks to the rear. Their construction was spread from 1828 to 1874. The programme thus realised represents a unique example in Nantes of Restoration architecture. The townhouse, built in the middle of the 19th century, presents two rooms that have retained their original decoration, notably a drawing room with a ceiling painted in trompe-l'oeil. The building is enhanced by a tree-planted garden with a water feature and a small grotto in rocaille.
