La forge de la Jahotière fut créée vers 1826, après l'achat du site par Achille Jouffroy d'Abbans, qui y implanta d'emblée le procédé à l'anglaise de fonte au coke. Une machine à vapeur actionnait la soufflerie de l'usine. Celle-ci fut encore agrandie en 1841. Le haut fourneau a 10 mètres de côté et 14 mètres de hauteur ; la cheminée d'origine, en brique, est à section carrée.

History
The forge of La Jahotière was created around 1826, following the purchase of the site by Achille Jouffroy d'Abbans, who immediately established the English process of coke-fired casting there. A steam engine drove the bellows of the works. The latter was further enlarged in 1841. The blast furnace is 10 metres on each side and 14 metres in height; the original chimney, in brick, has a square section.
