L'ensemble formé par les maisons des 51 et 53 Grand-Place, à l'angle de la rue du Pignon-Bigarré, a conservé l'essentiel de ses dispositions d'origine comme en témoigne la comparaison du cadastre actuel avec le parcellaire ancien. Il constitue de ce point de vue un échantillon intéressant et significatif de l'habitat ancien arrageois. Ces deux maisons étaient debout à la fin des bombardements de la Première Guerre mondiale. Les dispositions en arrière des façades classées sont bien connues grâce au plan relief ; les charpentes sont anciennes, les constructions dans les cours également, avec des portes du 16e siècle. Les caves voûtées reposent sur des colonnes à chapiteaux.

History
The ensemble formed by the houses at 51 and 53 Grand-Place, at the corner of rue du Pignon-Bigarré, has preserved the essential features of its original layout as evidenced by comparison of the current cadastre with the old land division. It constitutes from this point of view an interesting and significant sample of old Arras housing. These two houses were standing at the end of the bombardments of the First World War. The arrangements behind the classified façades are well known thanks to the relief map; the roof structures are ancient, the constructions in the courtyards as well, with doors from the 16th century. The barrel vaults rest on columns with capitals.
