Le 15 mai 1677, les religieux de Saint-Vaast d'Arras cèdent à perpétuité à la ville de Douai leur refuge situé rue du Gouvernement. Le refuge devient officiellement l'Hôtel de la Gouvernance. En 1710, il est incendié pendant le siège hollandais ; les appartement sont en grande partie détruits, le logis est inhabitable. Il est vendu par la ville en 1720, reconstruit et achevé en 1736, puis rénové au cours du 18e siècle. Hôtel entre cour et jardin, il témoigne d'une architecture domestique de prestige du début du 18e siècle.

History
On 15 May 1677, the monks of Saint-Vaast d'Arras cede in perpetuity to the city of Douai their refuge situated on rue du Gouvernement. The refuge officially becomes the Hôtel de la Gouvernance. In 1710, it is set on fire during the Dutch siege; the apartments are largely destroyed, the main dwelling is uninhabitable. It is sold by the city in 1720, rebuilt and completed in 1736, then renovated during the 18th century.
