History

Albert Bergeret, printer, director of the Imprimerie artistique de l'Est A. Bergeret, commissions architect Lucien Weissenburger to draw up the plans for the factory whose work begins in 1901. The same architect draws up in 1903 the plans for the house of the person who commissioned the work, adjoining the factory, but the decoration work will not be completed until 1905. The cabinet-maker and ironworker Louis Majorelle provides the ironwork and the fireplace of the drawing room; cabinet-maker Eugène Vallin creates the fireplaces of the study and the dining room and the ceiling of this room. Among the five stained glass windows executed by master glazier Jacques Gruber, the stained glass window of the hall "Roses et mouettes" is one of the artist's major works. Master glazier Joseph Janin also executes three sets of stained glass windows; painter Victor Prouvé creates the large canvas of the ceiling of the hall, currently removed.
