Historique
Ruines de Saint-Pierre dues à l'éruption de la Montagne Pelée le 8 mai 1902. La première construction date de 1786. Elle est remaniée à de multiples reprises après diverses catastrophes naturelles : salle refaite en 1817, et surtout après le cyclone de 1891. Le théâtre est inauguré en 1891 pour le centenaire du décès de Mozart. Faute de spectateurs, il ferme en 1901. Ne subsistent que les deux escaliers avec une fontaine centrale, l'emmarchement, les piles de la façade, la fosse d'orchestre, le passage pour les fauteuils d'orchestre et une petite rue extérieure.

History
Ruins of Saint-Pierre resulting from the eruption of Montagne Pelée on 8 May 1902. The first construction dates from 1786. It is altered on multiple occasions after various natural disasters: hall remade in 1817, and especially after the cyclone of 1891. The theatre is inaugurated in 1891 for the centenary of the death of Mozart. Lacking spectators, it closes in 1901. Only the two staircases with a central fountain, the flight of steps, the piles of the façade, the orchestra pit, the passage for the orchestra stalls and a small exterior street remain.
