Ecole maternelle - la seule école maternelle de Cayenne au début du 20e siècle - bâtie entre 1910 et 1917. Depuis 1925, elle porte le nom d'une célèbre guyanaise qui avait consacré sa vie à l'enseignement. Construite en maçonnerie, et en bois et brique pour le niveau supérieur, l'école, avec sa galerie en rez-de-chaussée et sa couverture en tôle ondulée, représente à la fois une adaptation originale de l'architecture traditionnelle guyanaise et un élément caractéristique de la place des Palmistes.

History
Nursery school - the only nursery school in Cayenne in the early 20th century - built between 1910 and 1917. Since 1925, it bears the name of a famous Guyanese woman who had devoted her life to teaching. Constructed in masonry, and in wood and brick for the upper level, the school, with its gallery on the ground floor and its corrugated iron roof, represents both an original adaptation of traditional Guyanese architecture and a characteristic element of the place des Palmistes.
