La première église de la commune, une construction en bois sur un soubassement en pierre, date de 1873. En 1901, devenue trop exiguë, elle est remplacée par une nouvelle église, toujours d'une architecture traditionnelle en bois. Détruite par des cyclones en 1932 et 1935, elle est reconstruite en 1936, avec les matériaux de l'église précédente. Protégée en 1982 comme l'une des dernières églises traditionnelles de l'île, elle est de nouveau en cours de restauration après le cyclone de février 1994.

History
The first church in the commune, a wooden construction on a stone base, dates from 1873. In 1901, having become too small, it is replaced by a new church, still of traditional wooden architecture.
