Cette maison noble fut la demeure des notaires du marquisat de Couhé-Vérac puis des notaires royaux. L'architecture de cet édifice, très imprégnée des traditions vernaculaires (toiture en tuiles plates, murs en moellons), laisse voir une première étape de construction à la fin du Moyen-âge puis au 17e siècle. Un grand corps de logis rectangulaire ferme une cour entourée de murs sur lesquels viennent s'adosser des communs. A l'est du logis, un portail 17e en arc déprimé avec claveau central saillant, est cantonné de piédroits dont la sculpture évoque des pilastres à chapiteaux. L'intérieur a conservé ses volumes d'origine, dallages de tomettes et cheminées des 15e et 17e siècles.

History
This noble house was the residence of the notaries of the marquisate of Couhé-Vérac then of royal notaries. The architecture of this building, very imbued with vernacular traditions (roof in flat tiles, walls in rubble stone), shows a first stage of construction in the late Middle Ages then in the 17th century. A large rectangular main dwelling closes a courtyard surrounded by walls against which outbuildings lean. To the east of the dwelling, a 17th-century depressed arch portal with projecting central keystone, is flanked by pilasters whose sculpture evokes pilasters with capitals. The interior has preserved its original volumes, tilework flooring and fireplaces of the 15th and 17th centuries.
