Dernière fondation cistercienne en Poitou, l'abbaye, affiliée à Clairvaux, a été fondée vers 1230. Pendant les guerres de Cent ans, l'abbaye est investie par des mercenaires qui la fortifient. Pendant les guerres de Religion, les bâtiments sont mal entretenus, certains brûlent. Rétablissement de l'abbaye fin 16e-début 17e siècle : abbatiale restaurée, une grande partie des bâtiments claustraux reconstruite. Au début du 18e siècle, l'abbaye est encore en pleine activité. A la fin du 18e siècle, elle nécessite d'importants travaux que la Révolution empêche. Abbaye vendue à partir de 1791 à divers propriétaires qui la démolissent, en particulier l'église abbatiale. Ancien réfectoire du 13e siècle, divisé en deux niveaux au 17e siècle. Porterie d'époque médiévale, remaniée. La grange était sans doute autrefois une hôtellerie : bâtiment du 13e siècle, remanié dès la fin du Moyen âge et à la fin du 17e siècle (toiture en brisis). History
The last Cistercian foundation in Poitou, the abbey, affiliated to Clairvaux, was founded around 1230. During the Hundred Years' War, the abbey was occupied by mercenaries who fortified it. During the Wars of Religion, the buildings were poorly maintained, some burned. Restoration of the abbey late 16th-early 17th century: the abbey church was restored, a large part of the cloister buildings were rebuilt. In the early 18th century, the abbey was still in full activity. At the end of the 18th century, it required major works which the Revolution prevented. Abbey sold from 1791 to various owners who demolished it, in particular the abbey church. Former refectory of the 13th century, divided into two levels in the 17th century. The barn was probably formerly a hostelry: 13th-century building, altered from the late Middle Ages and at the end of the 17th century (roof with broken slope).
