L'origine du château remonterait à 1180. Il fut propriété des évêques de Poitiers au 13e siècle, puis échangé au milieu du 15e siècle contre d'autres terres avec Charles d'Anjou. L'édifice est morcelé à la Révolution. Le château s'inscrit dans un vaste parc. Il présente un corps de logis rectangulaire à pignons, cantonné de part et d'autre par des tours à chemin de ronde de sections carrées. Les baies rectangulaires sont à meneaux et traverses. L'intérieur est très marqué par le réaménagement réalisé au 19e siècle. A l'écart, une grange pourrait correspondre à un bâtiment ancien.

History
The origin of the castle would date back to 1180. It was property of the bishops of Poitiers in the 13th century, then exchanged in the mid-15th century for other lands with Charles d'Anjou.
