Historique
L'église romane du 12e siècle comportait à l'origine une abside en hémicycle, un choeur, un transept et une nef couverte en berceau. Une crypte a été creusée sous le choeur. Durant la guerre de Cent ans, le clocher ainsi que la nef sont détruits. Les piles actuelles datent du 15e siècle. La nef est à nouveau saccagée vers 1472 et une nouvelle charpente est construite à la fin du 16e siècle. A la Révolution, saccage du caveau des seigneurs de Surgère qui se trouvait sous la crypte. History
The 12th-century Romanesque church originally comprised a hemicycle apse, a choir, a transept and a nave covered with a barrel vault. A crypt was dug beneath the choir. During the Hundred Years War, the bell tower and the nave are destroyed. The present piers date from the 15th century. The nave is again devastated around 1472 and a new roof structure is built at the end of the 16th century. At the Revolution, the vault of the lords of Surgère, which was beneath the crypt, is sacked. In 1899 lightning strikes the bell tower which is rebuilt higher than originally.
