Le château actuel fut commencé à la fin du 16e siècle à la place d'un édifice plus ancien dont une tour subsiste à l'extrémité des communs. Le revers de la façade conserve les rainures destinées aux chaînes du pont-levis qui n'a sans doute jamais été réalisé. Un pont de pierre franchit la douve. Le château se compose d'un corps de logis couronné d'un attique orné de pots à feu. Les tours carrées des extrémités présentent trois étages couronnés de créneaux et de mâchicoulis. Elles sont flanquées de tourelles d'escalier en colimaçon. Deux tours sont réunies par une galerie. La voûte est entièrement peinte à l'italienne et représente les Métamorphoses d'Ovide ainsi que des sujets mythologiques en camaïeu.

History
The present château was begun at the end of the 16th century in place of an older building of which a tower subsists at the end of the outbuildings. The building is situated at the southern end of a vast rectangular park surrounded by water. It consists of an entrance pavilion separated by a moat from the château. The latter is formed of a building in L-shape, flanked by two square towers. The building was composed of a quadrilateral with angles marked by towers but only part of the plan was evidently executed. The gatehouse consists of a large pavilion of one storey furnished with crenellations and machicolations, and topped with a roof à l'impériale. A vast porch passes through this pavilion. The rear of the façade retains the grooves intended for the chains of the drawbridge which was doubtless never realized. A stone bridge spans the moat. The château consists of a main dwelling crowned with an attic adorned with finials. The square towers at the ends present three storeys crowned with crenellations and machicolations. They are flanked by spiral staircase turrets. Two towers are joined by a gallery. The vault is entirely painted in the Italian manner and represents the Metamorphoses of Ovid as well as mythological subjects in monochrome.
