Le prieuré de Breuil-la-Réorthe dépendait de l'abbaye d'Ebreuil, au diocèse de Clermont-Ferrand. L'église, composée d'une nef à deux travées et chevet plat, est moderne dans son ensemble mais présente des restes gothiques. La forme des chapiteaux, la mouluration des ogives, les contreforts droits à l'extérieur du chevet, permettent de penser que l'église a été construite au 14e siècle. Les fresques sont placées sur le mur nord et le chevet. Il en existait aussi sur le mur sud. Elles forment une bande à peu près continue d'1,60m de haut environ, sur laquelle se distinguent diverses scènes (personnages ; Nativité ; Annonce aux bergers ; Adoration des mages ; Crucifixion). Au-dessous des fresques du mur nord, court une bande décorative de rubans ondés entre deux traits. L'ébrasement de la fenêtre du chevet est orné de fleurs de lys alternant avec des fleurons. Le mur nord et la partie supérieure du chevet, côté droit, portent une sorte de quadrillage en faux appareil paraissant antérieur aux figures.

History
The priory of Breuil-la-Réorthe was dependent on the abbey of Ebreuil, in the diocese of Clermont-Ferrand. The church, composed of a nave with two bays and flat chevet, is modern overall but presents Gothic remains. The form of the capitals, the moulding of the ogives, the straight buttresses on the outside of the chevet, suggest that the church was built in the 14th century. The frescoes are placed on the north wall and the chevet. Some also existed on the south wall. They form an approximately continuous band about 1.60m high, on which various scenes are distinguished (figures; Nativity; Announcement to the Shepherds; Adoration of the Magi; Crucifixion). Below the frescoes of the north wall, runs a decorative band of wavy ribbons between two lines. The splaying of the chevet window is decorated with fleurs-de-lis alternating with fleurons. The north wall and the upper part of the chevet, right side, bear a sort of cross-hatching in false ashlar appearing anterior to the figures.
