Historique
L'église était un vicariat perpétuel à la nomination de l'abbé de Saint-Jean-d'Angély. Il ne subsiste de l'église romane du 12e siècle que la partie inférieure de la façade. History
The church was a perpetual vicarage at the nomination of the abbot of Saint-Jean-d'Angély. Only the lower part of the façade survives from the Romanesque church of the 12th century. Traces of calcined stone at the base of the walls indicate that it was burned. The central portal in round arch is flanked by two blind openings narrower and with a stilted arch, limited by four large columns. The capitals are historiated. The abacus of the first capital is ornated with small figures in the midst of fine foliate scrolls. The other abacus is ornated with interlace as well as the string course which unites them. The posts of the portal continue with a round arch arcade. In front, a voussoir rests on two columns. Each voussoir is ornated with a bird with large feet whose beak is affronted with the neighbouring bird. The archivolt is formed of foliage.
